SIKESTON, Mo. -- Virginia "Toby" Byrum, 81, of Sikeston, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. She was born Dec. 5, 1921, to the late Ambrose and Dola Scroggins Turner. She lived in Mississippi County most of her life where she was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church and worked for the Brown Shoe Company for 41 years.
She married Elmer Ray "Toad" Byrum June 30, 1937. He preceded her in death Nov. 1, 1982.
Surviving are two sons, Bob Byrum of Bonne Terre, Mo., and Joe Byrum of Sikeston; one brother, Pete Turner of Flint, Mich.; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one grandson, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the McMickle Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo., where funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Sunday, with the Rev. Ted Wimberley officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
