WHITEWATER -- Virginia Bartels, 75, Whitewater Route 1, died Monday, Oct. 7, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Aug. 3, 1916, at Scott City, daughter of Andrew and Clara Zent Scherer. She married Elmer Bartels Nov. 25, 1945, at Scott City. Bartels attended Whitewater United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Elmer Bartels Jr., Whitewater Route 1; three sisters, Dorothy Cotner and Irene McClanahan of Scott City, Mary Sanford of Cahokia, Ill.; three grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson. The Rev. Virgil Bunch will officiate, with burial in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery at Gordonville.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.
