Virgil Wesley Welch, 77, of Farmington, retired manager and funeral director at the former Walther's Funeral Home, died Monday, June 14, 1993, at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 27, 1915, at Vineland, son of George V. and Florence Turley Welch. He married the former Virginia O. Woods.
Welch lived in Cape Girardeau from 1943-80. He was a member of St. Mark Order of Eastern Star and Calvary White Shrine in Cape Girardeau, and former member of Kiwanis Club here.
He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Farmington, Blackwell Masonic Blue Lodge, Elks Lodge and Kiwanis Club in Farmington, and served two terms as president of Southeast Missouri Funeral Directors Association.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Virgil Welch Jr. of Farmington; a daughter, Janet Komorech of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Taylor Funeral Chapel in Farmington. The Rev. Edwin Short will officiate, assisted by David Webster. Burial will be in Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today.
