WYATT -- Virgil Eugene Thomas, 83, of Wyatt died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Village Care Center in Mission, Texas.
He was born June 10, 1914, in DesMoines, Iowa, son of George W. and Martha Rylander Thomas. He and Mary McLain were married July 1, 1937. She died Sept. 9, 1984. He and Emagene Krause were married Sept. 21, 1985.
Thomas had lived in Wyatt since 1939. He retired from Union Carbide Corp. in Paducah, Ky., in 1970. He was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church in Charleston. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike Thomas of Cedar Edge, Colo.; a daughter, Mary Thomas of Fancy Farm, Ky.; a brother, Robert Thomas of San Jose, Calif.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. Friday. A prayer service will be held at 7.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Rich Lause officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery west of Charleston.
