Virgil Nick LaBrier, 75, of Jackson, formerly of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 16, 1940, in Poplar Bluff to John Joseph and Mable Lee Ward LaBrier. He and Billie Joyce Moore were married Dec. 20, 1961, in Poplar Bluff.

Virgil proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He was of the Baptist belief. He retired after many years at Sniders Grocery in Poplar Bluff. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching the Three Rivers Raiders and collecting baseball cards.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Regina LaBrier and Freda LaBrier of Poplar Bluff and Mike LaBrier of Jackson; five grandchildren, Chad, Lacy, Steven, Michael and Thomas; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Owen; four sisters, Shirley Wilkerson of Fisk, Missouri, Mable LaBrier of Poplar Bluff, Marge Haleen and Betty Shaw of Texas; and a brother, Fred LaBrier of Poplar Bluff.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mona Artez; a brother, John LaBrier; and a brother-in-law, Don Wilkerson.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with full military honors.
