Virgil Chester Hendrickson, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at the Chateau Girardeau Health Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 19, 1925, in Hendrickson, Mo., to George and Julia Auutrey Hendrickson. He and Joan Qualls were married Sunday, May 1,1955, in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Hendrickson served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for Missouri Utilities of Cape Girardeau for more than 40 years, retiring in 1986.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Hendrickson of Cape Girardeau; son, Rick (Carol) Hendrickson of Bethel Park, Pa.; brother, Edward Hendrickson and sister, Dolly Horn, both of St. Louis; grandchildren, Cara (Jon) Deemer of Butler, Pa., and Chelsea Hendrickson (fiance Scott Buehl) of Pittsburgh, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Kailey Deemer, Noah Deemer, Kassiah Buehl and Amakora Buehl; family by love Dotty and Rich Behring and their two daughters, Kim Behring and Sandy (Eddie, and daughter, Madison) Lowrey; and Cyndi, Tom and Jenni Troutman.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, with Pastor Kyle Carter officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to Southeast Hospice.
