Virgil Lee Abbott, 70, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born May 5, 1927, at Marion, Ill., son of Thomas Lester and Minnie Canada Abbott. Abbott, a longtime Cape Girardeau businessman, owned and operated Sound Track Music, a business which he started in 1969. He had previously worked for Bill Hollenbeck for several years. Virgil Lee Abbott, 70, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born May 5, 1927, at Marion, Ill., son of Thomas Lester and Minnie Canada Abbott.

Abbott, a longtime Cape Girardeau businessman, owned and operated Sound Track Music, a business which he started in 1969. He had previously worked for Bill Hollenbeck for several years. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include three sons, Terry Abbott of Cape Girardeau, Larry Abbott of Scott City and Greg Abbott of Jackson; three daughters, Malinda Heuer of Springfield, Becky Ford and Bobbie Foster, both of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Kathleen Rebick of Florissant; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Alvie Surface will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
