Virgil Albert Cotner, 81, 3007 Themis, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 1994, at Memorial Hospital in Hollywood, Fla. He was born Feb. 15, 1913, at Neelys Landing, son of James E. and Prudence McClard Cotner. He and Emma L. Hale were married Aug. 16, 1932, at Jackson. She died Jan. 14, 1967. He later married Virginia Berneice Dopp Sept. 23, 1967, at Scott City. She died Jan. 12, 1987...

Virgil Albert Cotner, 81, 3007 Themis, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 1994, at Memorial Hospital in Hollywood, Fla.

He was born Feb. 15, 1913, at Neelys Landing, son of James E. and Prudence McClard Cotner. He and Emma L. Hale were married Aug. 16, 1932, at Jackson. She died Jan. 14, 1967. He later married Virginia Berneice Dopp Sept. 23, 1967, at Scott City. She died Jan. 12, 1987.

Cotner had worked at Marquette Cement Co. He was district council president of United Cement Lime and Gypsum Workers more than 10 years. He was a member of Red Star Baptist Church, and had been a Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include two sons, William Cotner of Jacksonville, Fla., Paul Kish of San Diego, Calif.; three daughters, Paula Talley of St. Louis, Betty Stroud of Tucson, Ariz., Sylvia Cotner of Hollywood, Fla.; two brothers, Earl Cotner of Scott City, Jim Cotner of St. Charles; three sisters, Beulah Loucks, Margaret Wilson and Evelyn Snyder of Cape Girardeau; 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Red Star Church, with the Revs. Cy Smith and Alan Berry officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
