SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Virgie Jenice Throop, 79, of Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at the home of her daughter.
She was born June 2, 1921, at Allenville, daughter of John and Ella Settles Jones. She and Carl O. Throop were married Jan. 18, 1941, at Bloomfield. He died May 21, 1997.
Throop formerly owned and operated Virgie's Cafe and attended First Baptist Church, both in Scott City.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Ron Burger of Scott City; a sister, Irene Davis of Advance; three grandchildren and spouses, Scott and April Burger, Tammy and John Cotner, all of Scott City, Adam Burger of Cape Girardeau; four great-grandchildren, Libby and Becky Burger and Caitlyn and Zach Cotner, all of Scott City.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Wayne Throop, who died June 2, 1944; a brother and a sister.
Visitation was held Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the chapel, with the Rev. Terry Eades officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
