DEXTER, Mo. -- Virgia Buchanan, 88, of Dexter died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis.
She was born Aug. 9, 1912, at Traskwood, Ark., the daughter of James Burke Moore and Suda Cowsert Moore. She married Ray Glenn on June 11, 1929, at Piggott, Ark. He died Sept. 28, 1953. She then married Ralph "Pug" Buchanan on July 7, 1962, at Dexter. He died Aug. 26, 1995.
She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Dexter. She was a former employee of Elder Manufacturing and International Shoe Co., both in Dexter. She was a former nurse's aide at Comeau Nursing Home in Dexter.
She is survived by three daughters, Myrna Powers of Cape Girardeau, Marva Stevens of Manchester, Mo., and Wendonna Evans of Grubbeville, Mo.; three stepdaughters, Annette Hirst of Jacksonville, Fla., Yvonne Colbert of Dexter and Josephine Buchanan of Smithville, Mo.; a sister, Dorothy Wooley of Anna, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, a stepson and four sisters.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Bob Wiggins officiating.
Burial will be at the Dexter Cemetery.
