ADVANCE -- Violet "Vie" Phelps, 87, of Advance died Saturday, March 11, 1995, at the Advance Nursing Care Center.
She was born Jan. 29, 1908, in Brownwood, the daughter of John and Rebecca Fears Black. On March 4, 1924, she married Fred Phelps at Brownwood. He died on Feb. 21, 1973.
Survivors include four daughters, Pauline Schwarz of Naples, Fla., Minnie Meeker of Nixa, Naidene Sherman of Advance and Patsy Puchbauer of Cape Girardeau; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
Phelps also was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, two brothers and a sister. She was a member of Balch Church near Advance.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, where funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Brad Sherman and the Rev. Scott Price will officiate, and burial will be in the Brownwood Cemetery.
