PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Violet Rosalia Sanders, 85, of Perryville passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2020, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Feb. 15, 1934, in Pocahontas, the daughter of Rudolph and Rosalie Kain Petzoldt. She and Melvin Sanders married June 14, 1969, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1982.
Violet was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church and became a member of Sargent's Chapel Lutheran Church near Sedgewickville, Missouri, in 1969. Violet did babysitting in her home and quilting. She had a true passion for sewing and through the years had done many quilts for family and friends.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Darlene Sanders of Perryville; brother, Raymond (Donna) Petzoldt of Fruitland; sister-in-law, Jettie (the late Willman) Petzoldt of Jackson; three stepchildren; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center and after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sargent's Chapel Lutheran Church.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Jerry Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Sargent's Chapel Cemetery Fund.
