Violet Virginia Lambert, 90, of Scott City died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Feb. 13, 1927, to Thomas and Pauline Simpson Nemmo. She married Alfred A. Lambert Jr. on April 6, 1946.
Violet was a homemaker, seamstress, fisher-woman and cook, especially known for her divinity, fried fish and hushpuppies.
She was a member of Assembly of God Church in Scott City.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years; two children, Sharon Shafer and her husband, Ed, from Alto Pass, Illinois, and Tom and his wife, Debbie, of Scott City; grandchildren, Jimmie Brett Griffin and his wife, Janine, from Scott City, and his sisters, Gina and Erin; Jason Shafer and his wife, Marie, from Jefferson City, Missouri; Paula Shafer and partner, Alan Hoffmeister, from Cincinnati; Tommy Lambert and partner, Brandi Ward, from Scott City; Daniel Lambert from Cape Girardeau and Holly Hottel and partner, Michael Bass, from Jackson; as well as 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her second daughter, Connie Lee Griffin; her parents; four siblings; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel with the Rev. Randy Morse officiating.
