Viola Wilfong, 87, of Patton, Mo., died Thursday July 15 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 22, 1923, near Marquand, Mo., daughter of Charley and Mary Gromer Besher. She and Ray D. Wilfong were married April 25, 1942, and he died May 30, 2001.

Viola was a member of the Post Oak Congregational Methodist Church and had operated the Patton Cafe and a beauty shop in Patton for many years.

She is survived by four sons, Gary and Joe Wilfong of Patton, Richard Wilfong of Cedar Hill, Mo., Chuck Wilfong of Paulden, Ariz., two daughters, Jane Brotherton of Fredericktown, Mo., Sharon Denton of Troy, Mont., 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Pam Ackman; four brothers; eight sisters; and a granddaughter, Jessie Wilfong.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Liley Funeral Home in Patton.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Terry Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in Post Oak Cemetery near Patton.
