God quietly slipped in and took the hand of Viola Ruth Mosby, Thursday, Feb 15, 2018, at 8:10 a.m. She was ready to go home.

Born Jan 23, 1931, Vi was the fifth of seven children, daughter of Earl and Alvina Brenning Candler. She and Ralph E. Mosby married Dec 10, 1948, in Loaf, Arkansas. After 53 years of marriage, he passed away Jan 15, 2002.

Vi was a homemaker who also loved to sew, making clothes for her daughters. Her true passion was embroidering and quilting.

A devoted wife and mother, she is survived by her children, Alvina (Lindell) Wanick, Pat (Paul) Grebe and Ralph Jr (Mary) Mosby; seven grandsons, Shane (Deana) Wanick, Michael Birch (his significant other Teresa Parker), Kyle (Kim) Wanick, Roy (Maggie Lynn) Mosby, Ralph Mosby III (his significant other Sheryl Sipple), Andy (Theresa) Mosby and John (Ashlyn) Mosby; six great-grandchildren, Tony, Jacob, Quintin, Taylor and Nicky Wanick and Josef Lynn; a loving sister, Mary Lou Oelzen; and a close friend, Everett Snyders.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a great-grandson, Dustin Dakota Birch; four brothers; and a sister.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1327 Vaughn Road, Wood River, Illinois.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the church. She will be laid to rest at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
