Viola Hannah Kern, 84, of Scott City died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 21, 1918, at Ancell, Mo., daughter of Frank and Rosalie Pfefferkorn Arnold. She and Harold John Kern were married Jan. 21, 1940. He died Feb. 29, 1964.
She worked as a sales clerk at Amrhein Drug Store in Illmo, Mo. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Rose Kern of Scott City; two grandchildren and their spouses, Sherry and Donald Thomas of Cape Girardeau, and Gary and Courtney Kern of Scott City; three great-grandchildren, Zane and Victor Thomas of Cape Girardeau, and Gracie Kern of Scott City; and one sister, Pricilla Rhodes of Ferguson, Mo.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Scott City from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 6:30 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus service at 6:45 p.m.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City. The Rev. David Coon will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
