Viola I. Halter, 76, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Heartland Care Rehab Center.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, June 3, at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers will be said at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 4, at St. Mary's Cathedral, with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Geff Lamprea will officiate.
Ms. Halter was born Nov. 17, 1924, at Oran, Mo., daughter of Daniel and Annie Beal Halter.
Loving survivors include a brother, George Halter of Merritt Island, Fla.; a sister, Regina (William) Scott of Cape Girardeau; a niece, Mary Ann Joyce of St. Louis; two great-nieces, Debbie Hanks of Cape Girardeau, Vickie Paskel of Fenton, Mo.; a great-nephew, Gerald Joyce Jr. of Durant, Okla.; four great-great-nephews; two great-great-nieces; and five great-great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Ms. Halter worked 37 years at Florsheim Shoe Co. in Chaffee, Mo., and 20 years in housekeeping at Victorian Inn in Cape Girardeau. She had been a member of St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau since 1957 and was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Mary's Cathedral.
