Viola G. Dohogne, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Dec. 18, 1913, in Kelso, Mo., daughter of Leo and Louise Rosa Diebold Dohogne.
She graduated from College High School in 1930 as valedictorian. She worked for Hoffman Mortgage Co. in St. Louis and F.W. Woolworth Co. in Cape Girardeau. In January 1933, she began working for Finch and Finch, the law firm of James A. Finch and his son, James A. Finch Jr. She worked for the Finch firm for 50 years and eight months, by which time the firm was known as Finch, Bradshaw, Strom & Steele.
She was a member of Old St. Vincent Catholic Church, where she played the organ for five years in the 1940s and 1950s and was lector for 20 years beginning in October 1978.
She also belonged to Daughters of Isabella and the National Secretaries Association, and was a charter member of the Old St. Vincent Catholic Church Restoration Group.
Survivors include three brothers, Tiber E. Dohogne of University City, Mo., Urban L. Dohogne of Paragould, Ark., and Tony Dohogne of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Old St. Vincent Catholic Church.
Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. James Seyer officiating.
Viola requested that her body be donated to St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
