Viola "Pat" Best, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at the Missouri Veterans Home. She was born Jan. 28, 1920, in Blackfoot, Idaho, and was adopted as a young child. Pat served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II. She married William D. Best of Cape Girardeau in 1945. He preceded her in death in 1986...

Viola "Pat" Best, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at the Missouri Veterans Home.

She was born Jan. 28, 1920, in Blackfoot, Idaho, and was adopted as a young child.

Pat served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II.

She married William D. Best of Cape Girardeau in 1945. He preceded her in death in 1986.

Pat was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and active in Sunday school, United Methodist Women, Sander Circle and for many years in the Upper Room Covenant Prayer Group and Church Women United.

There are no survivors.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.
