DONGOLA, Ill. -- Vincent "Dutch" Barringer, 85, of Dongola died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at his home. He was born July 15, 1915, in Dongola, son of Aaron and Nova Vincent Barringer. He and Kathryn Baker were married May 8, 1948. Barringer retired as a supply supervisor at Vienna Correctional Center. He was a member of Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455, Dongola American Legion Post, and Anna Moose Lodge 1346...

DONGOLA, Ill. -- Vincent "Dutch" Barringer, 85, of Dongola died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at his home.

He was born July 15, 1915, in Dongola, son of Aaron and Nova Vincent Barringer. He and Kathryn Baker were married May 8, 1948.

Barringer retired as a supply supervisor at Vienna Correctional Center. He was a member of Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455, Dongola American Legion Post, and Anna Moose Lodge 1346.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Joan Plott of Anna, Ill., Linda Lasley of Buncombe, Ill.; a son, Mike Barringer of Dongola; two sisters, Katherine Martin and Whilmeta Jack of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Dean Barringer of Champaign, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and an infant sister.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. George McCommons will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
