Victoria Sue "Vicki" Boren, 74, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024, at her home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born in Cape Girardeau to Leo and Virginia Kain Boren.
Vicki grew up in Cape Girardeau. She graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School and then Southeast Missouri State University, with a degree in music education. While at SEMO, she was a member of Delta Delta Delta and Sigma Alpha Iota.
She worked in the Webster Groves School District until she took early retirement to move back home to assist with her parents. Vicki became very involved with the SEMO Alumni Association and served as the president for a period. She was very involved with Trinity Lutheran Church, including choir, Trebellaires and bells.
Vicki was a member of the quartet Faith in Harmony, singing throughout the community with her dear friends. She was a member of American Choral Directors Association, Missouri Music Educators Association and Chapter BI of the International P.E.O. Sisterhood.
She deeply loved to travel and did so extensively. Vicki had a profound love of God, family and music. She was “Grandmudder” to her great-nieces and -nephews, and she never met a stranger.
Vicki is survived by a niece, Victoria "Tori" (Ryan) Gibson of Cape Girardeau; three nephews, Daniel (Jennifer) Boren of Cape Girardeau, Lance (Katie) Boren of St. Louis and Bryan (Chanel) Boren of Las Vegas; a sister-in-law, Cathy Boren of Cape Girardeau; and many great-nieces, -nephews, cousins and aunts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Doug and Lee Boren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Burial will be at Hanover Lutheran Cemetery.
The family requests that any monetary donations be made in Vicki’s name to Alzheimer’s Association or Southeast Missouri State University.
