Vester Ross

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Vester "Bill" Ross, 63, of Sikeston died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 4, 1940, in Caraway, Ark., son of Silvia and Marie Mitts Ross. He and Patricia L. Kimber were married May 1, 1959.

Ross had been a truck driver for Batesville Truck Lines and Johnson House Movers before retiring. He attended Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Billy Ross of Holland, Mich.; three daughters, Patricia Elrod and Margaret Moore of Sikeston, Teri Hackney of Fort Worth, Texas; six sisters, Liz Abernathy of Friedheim, Mo., Patsy Pic, Faye Sandusky and Marilyn Brewer, all of Jackson, Debra Hoskins of Benton, Mo., Sandra Freeman of Nokomis, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Adams officiating. Burial will be in Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery.
