CHARLESTON -- Vernon Carr, 68, of Florissant died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997, at Christian Northeast Hospital in Florissant.

He was born Dec. 6, 1928, in Charleston, son of Thomas Wellington and Agnes Kettel Carr. He and Alma Hutcherson were married Feb. 24, 1951.

Carr had lived in Florissant 40 years, and had worked 46 years at McDonnell Douglas. He was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Florissant, and Knights of Columbus Council 3282 at Charleston. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary Carr of Florissant; two brothers, Richard Carr of Charleston, Cletus Carr of Marshfield, Mass.; two sisters, Frances Johnson of Hazelwood, Lucille French of Memphis, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, with the Rev. Rich Lause officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery near Charleston.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 10 a.m. until service time.
