Verna E. Sale, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center. She was born Jan. 30, 1924, in Blodgett, Missouri, to John E. and Tavy A. Seabaugh Godwin. Verna E. Sale, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 30, 1924, in Blodgett, Missouri, to John E. and Tavy A. Seabaugh Godwin. She and James L. McConnell were married in August 1945 in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1979. She later married Roy A. Sale on Dec. 14, 1985, in Cape Girardeau.

Verna was a graduate of Jackson High School. She worked at Malden Airport, Malden State Bank and Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, Missouri.

Survivors include her husband, Roy A. Sale of Cape Girardeau; children, Scott (Rose) McConnell of Macomb, Illinois, John (Margaret) McConnell of Shiloh, Illinois, and Lea Anne (James) Casteel of Cape Girardeau; stepchildren, Roy A. (Katrina) Sale Jr. of Gaston, South Carolina, Walter J. (Liz) Sale of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Teresa Cook and Yvonne M. Sale of Malden; grandchildren, Nisha Badders, Matthew McConnell, Sarah Michels, John W. McConnell, Michael McConnell, Elizabeth Bridges and Hunter Casteel; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Silas Badders; and many stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband and a brother, John Godwin Jr.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Barry Pfanstiel officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Red Cross.
