FROHNA, Mo. -- Verna M. Roth, 87, of Frohna died Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Frohna, daughter of Arthur and Amanda (Hellewege) Vogel. She and Richard Roth were married May 5, 1946. He survives in Frohna.
Mrs. Roth was a retired cook at Concordia Lutheran School for 25 years and a home maker. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna and church choir, LWML, Frohna Friendship Circle, an avid bowler and loved gardening and flowers.
Survivors include five sons and one daughter, Dennis (Kathy) Roth of Jackson, Gary (Lichu) Roth of Riverside, Calif., David (Betty) Roth of Altenburg, Mo., Gerald (Susan) Roth of Lancaster, Calif., Tom (Sue) Roth of Altenburg, and Connie (Ronald) Courtois of Perryville, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Shelah (Neil) Hester, Missy (Nathan) Adams, Anye (Sergio) Deana, Alex Roth, Jeremy (Katie) Roth, Stephanie (Sam) Lueders, Justin Roth, Amanda (Blake) Sauer, Benjamin Courtois and Josh Roth; and six great-grandchildren, Kimberlie, Cameron and Riley Hester, Paul and Annie Adams, and Jonah Roth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Kenny, Harlan and Loyd Vogel; and three grandchildren, Michael, Christopher and Jenna Roth.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 6:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Concordia Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Rod Benkendorf officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials are preferred for family use.
