CAIRO, Ill. -- Verna P. Drake, 92, of Cairo died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1992, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo.
She was born March 6, 1900, in Dongola, the daughter of Sidney and Theodosia Penrod Drake.
She was a retired telephone operator for the Illinois Bell Telephone Co. and was a member of the Cairo Baptist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Survivors include four cousins, Ilene Burris and Lonnie Burris, both of Cairo, Darrell Burris of Murphysboro, and Danny Burris of Chicago.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo, where funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Larry L. Potts will officiate, and burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery in Dongola.
