VERNA M. BREWER

EAST PRAIRIE -- Verna Mae Brewer, 81, of East Prairie, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 1995, at East Prairie Nursing Center.

She was born June 14, 1914, in Ridgely, Tenn., daughter of Morgan and Carrie Elizabeth Miller Henderson. She and Newt Brewer were married June 7, 1930. He died Jan. 16, 1975.

Brewer was a member of First General Baptist Church in East Prairie.

Survivors include four sons, Eldred Brewer of Mayfield, Ky., Michael, Frank and David Brewer of East Prairie; nine daughters, Elizabeth Miller, Annie Chance, Barbara McAfee, Brenda Riggins, Kay Youngblood, Donna Shands, Cordy Brewer and Phyllis Williams, all of East Prairie, Verna Williams of Whitesburg, Tenn.; a brother, Herman Henderson of Trimble, Tenn.; a sister, Ruth Rice of East Prairie; 46 grandchildren, and 47 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, sister and brother.

Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 1 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Ernest Brown officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.
