BLOOMFIELD -- Vern Scism, 75, of Bloomfield, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born Sept. 25, 1916, at Bloomfield, daughter of Elbert H. and Vivian Parmenter Eaker.
Scism was the first woman to be hired by the State of Missouri Auditor's Office as a county auditor in 1949.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church here, Jane Randolph Jefferson Chapter of DAR in Jefferson City, PEO Chapter DZ here, and 50-year member and past matron of Eastern Star Chapter 385 of Bloomfield.
Survivors include a brother, Carl Eaker of Waverly, Tenn.; two sisters, Mildred Lynn of Fairfield Glade, Tenn., and Carroll Maylath of Kalamazoo, Mich.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Harold Farrell will officiate, with burial in Bloomfield Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
