MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Verla Marie Cook, 78, of Marble Hill died Monday, April 18, 2011, surrounded by her family at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 18, 1932, in rural Marble Hill, daughter of the late Delzie and Bertha Cook.

Cook worked more than 40 years at Brown Shoe Factory in Advance, Mo., International Hat in Lutesville and International Shoe in Jackson, retiring from Henchel Manufacturing. She was a member of Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church.

Verla loved to spend time with her family. She also loved camping, gardening and going to auctions.

She and Elbert Cook were married June 26, 1960.

Survivors include her husband; six children, Brenda Cates of Jackson, Mike and Mary Sander, Sue and Joe Jordan, Pam and Rick Terbrak and Janet Cook, all of Marble Hill, and Pat and Winthol Frailey of Jackson; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clytus (Bev) Cook of Marble Hill.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Adam Terbrak; and a brother, Dewey Cook.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church, with the Revs. Steven Sander, Donnie Cook and Alan Terbrak officiating.

Interment will be in James Cemetery near Marble Hill.
