JACKSON -- Vergie R. Hoffmeister, 87, of Jackson, died Saturday, July 18, 1992, at her home. She was born on Feb. 19, 1905 at Whitewater, daughter of Robert and Lilly Smith Brown. She married Philip Hoffmeister on Dec. 5, 1925 in Jackson. He died on Dec. 7, 1983...

JACKSON -- Vergie R. Hoffmeister, 87, of Jackson, died Saturday, July 18, 1992, at her home.

She was born on Feb. 19, 1905 at Whitewater, daughter of Robert and Lilly Smith Brown.

She married Philip Hoffmeister on Dec. 5, 1925 in Jackson. He died on Dec. 7, 1983.

She was employed as a floor lady with International Shoe Co. in Cape Girardeau for 47 years. She retired in 1967.

She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson.

Surviving are one son, Harold Dean Hoffmeister of Gravois Mills; one daughter, Dorothy Bollinger of Jackson; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. William Dickey officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
