Verda Lou Fronabarger, 85, of Oak Ridge died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born April 18, 1918, in Burfordville, daughter of Jason and Matilda Green Phelps. She and Dale W. Fronabarger were married Dec. 24, 1939.
Fronabarger owned and operated the first beauty shop in Oak Ridge. She was a member of First Baptist Church and its choir, and of Oak Ridge Homemakers Club.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Dale Wesley Fronabarger of Jackson; a daughter, Mary Lou Abernathy of Jackson; two brothers, Lynn Phelps of Jackson, Weldon Phelps of Walnut Creek, Calif.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Jon Sedgwick and Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery at Oak Ridge.
