Verda Irene Criddle, 96, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, March 15, 1999, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born June 30, 1902, at Drum, daughter of James Franklin and Mary Nevada Hartle Stroder. She and William Smith Criddle were married Nov. 25, 1920, at Hickory Grove. He died April 13, 1996.
Criddle was a member of Whitewater United Methodist Church, former member of its WSCS and a former Sunday School teacher. She moved to Cape Girardeau in 1971 from Whitewater.
Survivors include two sons, James Criddle of Whitewater, Dewey Doc Criddle of Rock Falls, Ill.; a daughter, Mary Fadden of Sterling, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Eugene Criddle, one grandson, one granddaughter and nine brothers and a sister.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jim Brice officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
