Vera Whitlock, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Southeast Hospital.
She was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Cape Girardeau, to Henry Eli and Anna Myrtle McKee Chism.
Vera worked many years in California as warehouse manager for carpet suppliers Broadway/Macy's. She had been an active member of the Red Hat Society and Eastern Star many years. She was a member of Cape Bible Chapel, where she was very active in her Bible study group led by Steve Hargett.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Perez (Ruben) of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Danny (Sandy) Provines of Alta Loma, California, and Stacy (Matthew) Reid of Miami Beach, Florida; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Provines and Tyler Provines of Alta Loma, and Grant Reid of Miami Beach; also many cousins; and other relatives including Pat and Jodi McKee, Olivia and Joe Thorpe and Peggy McKee of the Cape Girardeau area.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two former husbands, John Harold Laughlin and Charles Whitlock.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. James Green officiating.
