FROHNA, Mo. -- Vera E. Vogel, 88, of Frohna died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 15, 1928, in Frohna, daughter of Anton and Esther Mueller Petzoldt. She and Edwin "Ebs" Vogel were married Aug. 27, 1949. He preceded her in death June 23, 1993.
She was a homemaker and a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was a member of the American Legion Post 133 Auxiliary and Frohna Friendship Circle (formerly Frohna Extension Club). She was a past volunteer at the Saxony Lutheran Memorial and the Altenburg Regional Library.
Vera loved reading, playing cards, quilting, flower gardening, bowling and singing in the church choir. She was a Sunday-school teacher and 4-H leader for many years.
Survivors include two sons and two daughters, Charles (Tony) Vogel of Frohna, Mark (Magdalene) Vogel of Jackson, Brenda Musser of Frohna and Sarah (John) Ruessler of Perryville, Missouri; five sisters and a brother, Norma McLain of Augusta, Georgia, Gilbert Petzoldt of Monrovia, California, Mildred Krueger of Palatine, Illinois, Doris Gates of Bellevue, Washington, Arlene James of Jackson and Darlene Bachmann of Frohna; 10 grandchildren, John (Amber) Musser of Kailua, Hawaii, Nicole (Ethan) Tyer of New York City, New York, Thomas (Katie) Musser of Santa Clarita, California, Kyle Vogel of St. Louis, Jessica (Andy) Aldy of Tupelo, Mississippi, Stacy (Andrew) Jones of State College, Pennsylvania, Zach Vogel and Josh Vogel of Jackson and Abby Ruessler and Lucas Ruessler of Perryville; one stepgranddaughter, Jen (Craig) Burrows of Mammoth Lakes, California; eight great-grandchildren, Emily Musser, Madeline Musser, Gracen Musser, Brendon Musser, Wyatt Aldy, Kennedy Aldy, Aubrynn Jones and Winston Tyer; and three stepgrandsons, Trever Mann, Conner Burrows and Jake Burrows.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Stephen Vogel and Scott Vogel; a son-in-law, Gordon Musser; five sisters, Nelda Boren, Lorna Petzoldt, Milda Lorenz, Ruby Popp and Lillian Vogel; and a brother, Marvin Petzoldt.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg, Missouri.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna, with the Rev. Rod Benkendorf officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to Concordia Lutheran Church, United in Christ Lutheran School or Saxony Lutheran High School.
