PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Vera Thelma Meyer, 97, of Perryville died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville. She was born July 7, 1917, in Point Rest, Missouri, daughter of William and Emma Wehmueller Wichern. She and Albert A. Meyer were married Jan. 15, 1939. He preceded her in death Sept. 11, 2008...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Vera Thelma Meyer, 97, of Perryville died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville.

She was born July 7, 1917, in Point Rest, Missouri, daughter of William and Emma Wehmueller Wichern. She and Albert A. Meyer were married Jan. 15, 1939. He preceded her in death Sept. 11, 2008.

Vera was a dietitian for Dr. Coon in St. Louis and a cook at Perryville High School and Immanuel Lutheran School. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville and a quilter.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Barbara Meyer and David Meyer, all of St. Louis; a brother, Orville Wichern of Washington, Arkansas; a sister, Dorothy Sommers of Martinsburg, West Virginia; three grandchildren, Kendall, Torrey and Suzanne Meyer; three stepgrandchildren, Gary and Keith Bright and Elizabeth Laumann; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a son, Steven.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Young and Sons Funeral Home

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Matthew Marks and Kendall Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Immanuel School Tuition Assistant Fund for Lutheran High Schools or Concordia Seminary in St. Louis.
