Funeral service for Vera M. Fornkohl, 2001 N. Kingshighway, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Revs. James Caughlan and Ernest Jordan will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.

Fornkohl, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center.

She was born March 26, 1912, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Arthur and Emma Rubel Sander. She and Hadley Fornkohl were married Oct. 4, 1941, in Cape Girardeau. He died Oct. 6, 1981.

Fornkohl was a graduate of Central High School, attended Southeast Missouri State University, graduated from and later taught at Cape Girardeau Business College.

She was a bookkeeper and secretary at: Groves Motor, Millikan Motor, Buchanan Buick, CNI Corp., Superior Electric, American Gauze Co., and was with Missouri Dry Dock 30 years, retiring in 1980.

Fornkohl was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, member of its Mary Martha Circle, past board member and Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of VFW Auxiliary and UCT Auxiliary.

Survivors include a son, Hadley Fornkohl of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Van Sander of Cape Girardeau, Kay Sander of St. Louis; three sisters, Zelta Green, Janice Dettmann and Yvonne Papendick of St. Louis; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, sister and two brothers.
