FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- Vera Edna James, 92, of Sedgewickville, Mo., died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Fredericktown. She was born July 23, 1915, in Sedgewickville, daughter of Ephraim and Emma Wilke Statler. She and Elzia M. James were married Dec. 21, 1935. He died July 20, 1969...

FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- Vera Edna James, 92, of Sedgewickville, Mo., died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Fredericktown.

She was born July 23, 1915, in Sedgewickville, daughter of Ephraim and Emma Wilke Statler. She and Elzia M. James were married Dec. 21, 1935. He died July 20, 1969.

James was a member of the Sedgewickville Lutheran Church and co-founder and 75-year member of the Willing Helpers Extension Club of Sedgewickville. She was active in the care of Sedgewickville Cemetery and many other area organizations.

Survivors include two sons, Terry Wayne James of Jackson, Perry Lynn James of Sedgewickville; a daughter, Sharon Kay Smith of Sedgewickville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two infant daughters, a sister and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Liley Funeral Home in Patton, Mo., and 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday at Sedgewickville Lutheran Church.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Sedgewickville Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Jerry Baily and William Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Sedgewickville Cemetery in Sedgewickville.
