JACKSON -- Vera G. Nothdurft, 90, of Jackson died at the Lutheran Home Saturday, May 8, 1999.
She was born Nov. 26, 1908, in Marissa, Ill., daughter of Elmer and Della McManus McDonald.
She married Russell Nothdurft Sept. 2, 1929. He died Feb. 8, 1990.
She received a teaching certificate from Southeast Missouri State University and taught elementary school at the former Burfordville and Helderman schools.
She and her husband owned and operated the former Nothdurft General Store at Crump, from 1934 to 1945 and the Nothdurft Hardware Store at Delta from 1946 to 1971. They moved from their near Delta to Jackson in 1984.
She was a former member of the Delta Baptist Church, where she was active in the WMU and Delta Homemakers Club. She was a member of the Shawnee Hills Baptist Church of Jackson and was a member and past matron of the Whitewater Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by a son, Donald Nothdurft of Whitewater; a daughter, Beverly Ridings of Broken Arrow, Okla.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond Epps officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
