Venus C. Martin, 91, of Jackson died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born April 8, 1911, near Oak Ridge, Mo., daughter of Robert and Fannie Reid Cotner. She and William D. Martin were married Sept. 26, 1934. He died July 10, 1984...

Venus C. Martin, 91, of Jackson died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born April 8, 1911, near Oak Ridge, Mo., daughter of Robert and Fannie Reid Cotner. She and William D. Martin were married Sept. 26, 1934. He died July 10, 1984.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. She also was a former member of the Cane Creek Homemakers Club.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Martin of Jackson; a grandson; five great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters and a grandson.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Grant Gillard officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
