Venita M. Wengert, 97, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, May 5, 2016, at The Lutheran Home.
She was born July 6, 1918, in Perryville, Missouri, to Arthur William and Mary Anna Prevallet McAtee. She and Joseph Charles Wengert were married Aug. 16, 1941, at Perryville. He passed away in October 2001.
Venita loved embroidery and making quilts. She also loved baking for her family and was very good at it.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon M. Cassout of Cape Girardeau, Jo Ann Hunze of Chesterfield, Missouri, and Deborah Crawford of Cape Girardeau. Venita also is survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and three sons, Larry F., Daniel J. and Kevin P. Wengert.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
