JACKSON, Mo. -- Venita Strickland, 84, of Jackson, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at her home.
She was born Jan. 27, 1917, in Sikeston, Mo., daughter of William Henry and Edith Marie Canoy Masterson.
She married William Edward "Jack" Strickland May 7, 1937, in Blodgett, Mo. He preceded her in death March 21, 1991.
She was a member of Oak Ridge United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and Jackson Villa Friendship Group. She volunteered as a Cape Girardeau County Election Judge.
Survivors include four sons and daughter-in-laws, William Edward "Jack" Jr. and Shelby Strickland, Thomas H. and Judy Strickland, John D. and Molly Strickland, and Paul W. and Marti Strickland, all of Jackson; five grandsons; four granddaughters; two stepgranddaughters; three great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and two great-stepgrandsons.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, a grandson, two brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Chapel in Jackson.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Fred Rister officiating.
Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorial donations may be made to Oak Ridge United Methodist Church.
