VELMER M. MEHNER

PERRYVILLE -- Velmer M. Mehner, 75, of Perryville, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997, at Perry County Nursing Home in Perryville.

He was born April 30, 1992, in Menfro, Mo., son of Martin and Charlotte Hoehn Mehner.

He married B. Maxine Taylor. She preceded him in death. He later married Lorene Streiler Evans on June 3, 1966. She preceded him in death Dec. 1, 1988.

He had been owner operator of RadioCab Co. in Perryville and Chester, Ill. He was a member of American Legion Post 133 Booster Club, VFW Post 4292 Booster Club, Elks Lodge 2701, Masonic Lodge 670 AF&AM, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 46-Perryville, St. Marys Order No. 80 Sword of Bunker Hill Lodge, Missouri Federation of the Blind and Ozark Association of the Blind.

He is survived by a daughter, Charlotte Worrell of Perryville; a stepson, Roy C. Evans of Chester, Ill.; five step-daughters, Rosedell Mitchell, Jeanette Bohnert, and Shirley Mattingly, all of Perryville, Alice Garris of Crosstown and Delores Routen of Huntsville, Ala.; a sister, Lydia E. Voltz of Kansas City; two grandchildren; 34 step-grandchildren; and 42 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two step-sons, four brothers, and three sisters.

Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Young & Sons Chapel in Perryville with the Rev. Ed Hankinson officiating.
