CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Velma M. Williams, 96, of Kelseyville, Calif., formerly of Chaffee, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, in Kelseyville.
She was born Sept. 6, 1916, in Moreland Township, Mo., to Leo and Bertha Morie Blattel. She married Lawrence Williams on March 30, 1936. He preceded her in death July 4, 1983.
Velma worked at Buckstein Pants Factory in Chaffee, and was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee. She was a vibrant, energetic, life-loving lady! She loved to garden and to can all her harvest. Velma also enjoyed dancing and music of all kinds as well as cooking for her family. She loved homemade ice cream and chicken and dumplings.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the U.S., and later in life enjoyed vacationing with friends to Rome and Paris. She was special and unique beyond compare. She was truly loved. Her blue eyes and endearing smile will be greatly missed.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Monae Harrell-Rosgen of California and Rene Garson of Pennsylvania; and two great-grandchildren, Danielle and Lauren Garson of Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Rose Harrell; a brother, Harold Blattel; and a sister, Alene Stausing.
A graveside service will be announced at a later date and be at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery.
