ST. LOUIS -- Velma Irene Hill, 84, of St. Louis, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at Beau Vaile Manor in St. Louis. She was born June 26, 1917, in Marion, Ill., daughter of Norman and Georgia Henninger Summers. She and Ira "Buster" Hill were married Dec. 9, 1939, in Matthews, Mo., and he died Jan. 28, 1991...

ST. LOUIS -- Velma Irene Hill, 84, of St. Louis, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at Beau Vaile Manor in St. Louis.

She was born June 26, 1917, in Marion, Ill., daughter of Norman and Georgia Henninger Summers. She and Ira "Buster" Hill were married Dec. 9, 1939, in Matthews, Mo., and he died Jan. 28, 1991.

She worked for International Shoe Co. for 40 years and was a certified nurses aide from 1993-1997 at Green Meadows Retirement Home.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Gale Hill of St. Louis and Kelley Jo Holt of Sikeston; a sister, Anna Marie Dooley of Randles, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Ted Dooley officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
