JACKSON -- Mrs. Velma Chostner Limbaugh, 94, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997, at the Brian Center in Goldsboro, N.C.
She was born in Marble Hill, daughter of Pinkney and Ellen Chostner.
She was married to Webster S. Limbaugh in 1921. He died in September 1967.
She taught school two years. She was a member of the Baden Baptist Church in St. Louis before moving to Goldsboro in 1988. On her 90th birthday, St. Louis Mayor Freeman Bosley presented Limbaugh with a proclamation naming Nov. 17 as Velma Limbaugh Day in St. Louis. She also received the "Key to the City" of Bal Harbour, Fla. Limbaugh was named honorary chairlady for the Angels of Villa Mario, a charity at Miami.
She was a world traveler.
Survivors include sons, Webster S. Limbaugh Jr. of Kansas City and Dempsey Limbaugh of Bal Harbour; daughters, Virginia Lancaster and Aldav Lancaster, both of Goldsboro; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Service will be held Monday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Chapel at Jackson at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Bob Grimes officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday morning from 9 to service time.
The Seymour Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements at Goldsboro, where a visitation was held Friday.
