Velda Wilson

PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Velda R. Wilson, 78, of Perryville died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at her home.

She was born Oct. 20, 1929, in Perry County, daughter of William J. and Alma Whistler Zahner. She and Roy Grover Wilson were married Aug. 25, 1951. He died Jan. 29, 2004.

Wilson worked 30 years with the Association of Miraculous Medal Office. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She was a 1948 graduate of St. Vincent High School.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Wilson of Perryville; a brother, Donald Zahner of St. Charles, Mo.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Young and Sons Funeral Home. A VFW Auxiliary wake will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, followed by the parish wake at 7. The rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
