SIKESTON -- Velda Kathleen McFerron, 80, of Sikeston, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 1996, at her home. She was born Sept. 26, 1915, in Vanduser, daughter of William Vallen "Val" and Ann Hamby. She married Carl L. McFerron, who died April 6, 1983. McFerron was a food service worker at Sikeston Public Schools many years, and member of First Baptist Church...

SIKESTON -- Velda Kathleen McFerron, 80, of Sikeston, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 1996, at her home.

She was born Sept. 26, 1915, in Vanduser, daughter of William Vallen "Val" and Ann Hamby. She married Carl L. McFerron, who died April 6, 1983.

McFerron was a food service worker at Sikeston Public Schools many years, and member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Peek of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Robert Hamby of Memphis, Tenn., Jim Hamby of Detroit, Mich.; a sister, Jean Richmond of Advance; two grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, with Dr. Jim Guffie officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
