DONGOLA, Ill. -- Vaughn K. Echols, 69, of Dongola died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 28, 1922, at Ullin, Ill., the son of Horace E. and Olive Ruth Crippen Echols. On June 21, 1974, he married Betty Jo Miller, who survives.
He was a veteran of World War II, where he served with the U.S. Army as an Aerial Engineer. He also was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8891.
Other survivors include a son, Randy Echols of Dongola; a daughter, Rosalind Lingle of Dongola; two brothers, William H. Echols of Las Vegas, Nev. and H.E. "Bucky" Echols of Brookport, Ill.; two sisters, Vesta Marks and Wanda Ruth Watkins, both of Anna, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at the Crain Funeral Home in Dongola, where funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Lucien Bozarth will officiate, and burial will be in the Dongola American Legion Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post $3455 of the Anna VFW.
