Van Marshall
JACKSON -- Van J. Marshall, 78, of Jackson died Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, at the St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born May 26, 1921, at Kennett, son of Robert E. and Bessie Chailland Marshall. He and Mae Boyd were married March 24, 1973, at Charleston.
He was the manager of Bunge Grain Elevator before retiring in 1985. He was a past member of the Lions and Rotary clubs, both of East Prairie, and the Charleston VFW 4292. He was a member of the Charleston Masonic Lodge 407 A.F. and A.M., the Shrine Club at Cape Girardeau and the Moolah Temple at St. Louis. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Charles Van Marshall of Matthews, William Keith Marshall of East Prairie and Jeffrey Todd Marshall of Pleasant Hill; three daughters, Linda Jane Bisher of Hickory, Ky., Cynthia Lea Toler of Hammond, La., and Alesia Kay Hessling of Pleasant Hill; two stepdaughters, Beechy Brazel of Charleston and Taffi French of Fargo, N.D.; a stepson, Mark M. Brown of Smithville; four brothers, Charles Marshall, Edward Marshall and Herbert Marshall, all of East Prairie, and John Marshall of Bowie, Md.; three sisters, Peggy Adkisson of Iola, Texas, Robbie Eastman of Jackson and Barbara Byrum of Cape Girardeau; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and five great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home at East Prairie. Masonic services will be at 7 by the Charleston Masonic Lodge.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Larry Smith will officiate, with burial to follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
