Uldine Brake

Uldine Perkins Mock Brake, 82, of New Braunfels, Texas, and formerly of Marble Hill, Mo., left this earth Friday, Feb. 8, 2008.

The only living daughter of 13 children, she was born on July 14, 1926, in St. Louis to the late Marvin L. and Josephine A. Perkins, both of Marble Hill. She was married in March 1946 to the late SFC Raymond W. Mock of Toledo, Ohio, who preceded her in death in 1970.

From this union came three children: Kevin D. (wife: Sharon) of Fayetteville, Ark.; Jai T (Tammie) Perkins of San Marcos, Texas; and Kelly W. (wife: Rita) of El Paso, Texas. Her eldest son, Kevin, preceded her in death in November 1989.

She remarried in 1975 to SFC Charles E. Brake of Brookside, Ala. She also leaves behind two stepchildren: Richard Brake of Salina, Kan., and Jeanette Brake of Clay Center, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Shannon Lewis of Oklahoma; Meghan Banton of Rapid City, S.D.; Jeremiah Babcock and Adam Field, both of San Marcos; LCpl. Michael McDowell of Camp Fallujah, Iraq; Denise Alvarez of San Antonio; and Anne McDowell of El Paso; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Perkins (Brenda) of Vidor, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was involved in many activities throughout her life including the American Red Cross, NCO Wives, The VFW, American Gold Star Mothers and The Order of The Eastern Star. She also enjoyed square dancing, crochet and reading. She was active in the VFW at many posts in Texas and Missouri and held the office of chaplain for many years. She was also a member of Cranes Mill Baptist church of Canyon Lake, Texas.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Liley Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be at Clubb Creek cemetery in Zalma, Mo., with Harold Perkins officiating the service.

Rita Mock will be pallbearer.
